Interview of the forum MEDICINE HORIZONS with the composer and musicologist Peter Hübner – creator of the Medical Resonance Therapy Music^® and founder of Digital Pharmaceutics – as well as with the publisher for classical music and medicine Aar Edition.

“It chirps a little here, it swooshes a little there; harmless cascades swoosh down in thirds and fifths, and in thirds and fifths the whole swooshes back up again into an Elysium of a sounding deadness. Music without bite, sounds without spine, a pseudo-philharmonic foam bath, lukewarm and agonizingly boring.

Exactly the right thing, it must have dawned on Hübner, to enshroud the stressed “normalo” of the meritocracy in clouds of sound and to take him with a lot of pure major for a ride into the esoteric high.

Anyway, the salvation bringer soon tied his self-made into bundles under the title “Medical Resonance Therapy Music^®”, posed them (by referring to Pythagoras) as numbered “preparations” (like for instance RRR 781) and found even entry with the digital sleeping pills into the range of goods of pharmacies – today he has 56 different CD-pharmaceuticals on sale.

In Edermünde 1, affirm Hübner and his entourage, nothing would be fishy. Whatever kind of ominous institutions trade there at the local address “Rainsborn 1”: “Aar Edition”, “United Productions”, “Enjoy Records”, “Micro Music Laboratories” – “no sects”, “nothing of scientology” and “no commune with a philosophy of life” would be behind it.

And with the TM organizations, who got a bad reputation in Germany in the meantime, Hübner would “not be associated anymore since 1987”. He again would be “devoted as a freelancer exclusively to art.”.

But this time we want to dedicate ourselves in detail to the content of the SPIEGEL publication and critically examine, what kind of quality this newsmagazine has to offer to its readers in the medical field, or perhaps more appropriate: what the SPIEGEL inflicts on our citizens in the field of health.

Mr. Hübner, your critical expert opinion is asked:

The listener who thinks to have heard a “chirping” may therefore have a hearing defect. The cause can be a damage done to the physical ear – as this is known from visitors of too loud rock concerts or discotheques, or: the hearing defect is rooted in an inadequate ability of musical differentiation – what may indicate a defect of the brain or, what is also possible: the reader is told lies on purpose here.

Because every ordinary man and every normally healthy child can very well distinguish, for instance, between a “chirping” of insects and a ”tone” of music. The very same then is true for that “swooshing” which the reporting person believes to have heard.
Also here it can therefore be a hearing defect of the listener, who thinks he had heard a “swooshing”; the cause, again, can be a damage of the physical ear – or: the hearing defect is rooted in an inadequate ability of musical differentiation – what may indicate a defect of the brain or: here, again, the reader is told lies on purpose.
